NOTES on California

James 1:10-11

King James Version

10 But the rich, in that he is made low:

because as the flower of the grass

he shall pass away.

11 For the sun is no sooner risen

with a burning heat,

but it withereth the grass,

and the flower thereof falleth,

and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth:

so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

Why did California burn?

Was it from GOD's rage?

Was it from man's neglect?

Was it from both?

To better understand, we dive deep.

I've been to California several times.

I appreciated the laid-back culture, especially in LA.

Somehow, it felt like a fun city to live in.

But has CA, and LA changed?

What did the fires reveal?

Let's look into the "pride" of California.

In the areas, and industries that matter.

Here are the excerpts, from the experts:

( All quoted from Wikipedia.)

GEOGRAPHY, general info

"California (/ˌkælɪˈfɔːrnjə/ ) is a state in the Western Region of the United States that lies on the Pacific Coast.

It borders Oregon to the north, Nevada and Arizona to the east, and shares an international border with the Mexican state of Baja California to the south.

With over 39 million residents across an area of 163,696 square miles (423,970 km2),[11] it is the most populous U.S. state, the third-largest by area, and most populated subnational entity in North America.

Los Angeles is the state's most populous city and the nation's second-most;

Droughts and wildfires are an ongoing issue."

ECONOMY

"California has the nation's largest economy with a gross state product of $4.132 trillion as of Q3 2024.[15]

It is the world's largest sub-national economy, and would by most estimations rank 5th globally by nominal GDP.[16][17]

The state also leads the nation in agricultural output,[18][19][20] led by its production of dairy, almonds, and grapes.[21]

With the busiest port in the country (Los Angeles), California plays a pivotal role in the global supply chain, hauling in about 40% of goods imported to the US.[22]"

CULTURE

"The culture of California is a Western culture and has its modern roots in the culture of the United States, but also, historically, many Hispanic Californio and Mexican influences.

California has long been a subject of interest in the public mind and has often been promoted by its boosters as a kind of paradise.

Notable contributions to popular culture, ranging from entertainment, sports, music, and fashion, have their origins in California.

California is the home of Hollywood, the oldest and one of the largest film industries in the world, profoundly influencing global entertainment.

The San Francisco Bay and the Greater Los Angeles areas are seen as the centers of the global technology and U.S. film industries, respectively.

California, particularly Southern California,[259] is considered the birthplace of modern car culture."

POPULATION

"According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 2021 and 2022, 818,000 California residents moved out of state[180] with emigrants listing high cost of living,[181] high taxes,[182][183] and a difficult business environment as the motivation.[183]

The net loss of population in California between July 2020 and July 2023 was 433,000.

As of 2020, California ranked fourth among states by life expectancy, with a life expectancy of 79.0 years.

illegal aliens constituted an estimated 7.3 percent of the state's population, the third highest percentage of any state in the country,[193][note 4] totaling nearly 2.6 million.[194]

In particular, illegal immigrants tended to be concentrated in Los Angeles, Monterey, San Benito, Imperial, and Napa Counties—the latter four of which have significant agricultural industries that depend on manual labor.[195]

More than half of illegal immigrants originate from Mexico.[194]

The state of California and some California cities, including Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco,[196] have adopted sanctuary policies.

According to HUD's 2022 Annual Homeless Assessment Report, there were an estimated 171,521 homeless people in California.

California has the largest population of White Americans in the United States, an estimated 22,200,000 residents including people identifying as white in combination with any other race.

According to estimates from 2011, California has the largest minority population in the United States by numbers, making up 60% of the state population.

Most of California's immigrant population are born in Mexico (3.9 million), the Philippines (825,200), China (768,400), India (556,500), and Vietnam (502,600)."

RELIGION

"The largest religious denominations by number of adherents as a percentage of California's population in 2014 were the Catholic Church with 28 percent, Evangelical Protestants with 20 percent, and Mainline Protestants with 10 percent.

Together, all kinds of Protestants accounted for 32 percent.

Those unaffiliated with any religion represented 27 percent of the population.

The breakdown of other religions is 1% Muslim, 2% Hindu and 2% Buddhist.

The American Jewish Year Book placed the total Jewish population of California at about 1,194,190 in 2006.[254]

According to the Association of Religion Data Archives (ARDA) the largest denominations by adherents in 2010 were the Catholic Church with 10,233,334; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with 763,818; and the Southern Baptist Convention with 489,953."

MEDIA

"The four major American television commercial broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) as well as other networks all have production facilities and offices in the state.

California is also the birthplace of several international music genres, including the Bakersfield sound, Bay Area thrash metal, alternative rock, g-funk, nu metal, glam metal, thrash metal, psychedelic rock, stoner rock, punk rock, hardcore punk, metalcore, pop punk, surf music, third wave ska, west coast hip hop, west coast jazz, jazz rap, and many other genres.

Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics, marking the fourth time that California will have hosted the Olympic Games."

EDUCATION

"California has the most school students in the country, with over 6.2 million in the 2005–06 school year...

California is also home to notable private universities such as Stanford University, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), the University of Southern California, the Claremont Colleges, Santa Clara University, Loyola Marymount University, the University of San Diego, the University of San Francisco, Chapman University, Pepperdine University, Occidental College, and University of the Pacific..."

ECONOMY

"California is responsible for one seventh of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP).

California's economy is larger than Africa and Australia and is almost as large as South America.

The five largest sectors of employment in California are trade, transportation, and utilities; government; professional and business services; education and health services; and leisure and hospitality.

California's biggest trade partner is Mexico.

The agriculture sector accounts for two percent of the state's GDP and employs around three percent of its total workforce.

Per capita GDP in 2021 was $85,546, ranking fourth in the nation.

California has a poverty rate of 23.5%, the highest of any state in the country.

Many coastal cities include some of the wealthiest per-capita areas in the United States.

California residents were ranked first among the states with the best average credit score of 754.

On June 27, 2013, Governor Jerry Brown signed a balanced budget (no deficit) for the state, its first in decades; however, the state's debt remains at $132 billion.

minimum state sales tax of 7.5%

California now levies a 13.3% maximum marginal income tax rate with ten tax brackets."

ENERGY

"Because it is the most populous state in the United States, California is one of the country's largest users of energy.

Due to the high electricity demand, California imports more electricity than any other state, primarily hydroelectric power.

The state's crude oil and natural gas deposits are located in the Central Valley and along the coast, including the large Midway-Sunset Oil Field.

Natural gas-fired power plants typically account for more than one-half of state electricity generation.

As a result of the state's strong environmental movement, California has some of the most aggressive renewable energy goals in the United States.

California has one major nuclear power plant (Diablo Canyon) in operation."

WATER

"California's interconnected water system is the world's largest, managing over 40,000,000 acre-feet (49 km3) of water per year, centered on six main systems of aqueducts and infrastructure projects.

Water use and conservation in California is a politically divisive issue, as the state experiences periodic droughts and has to balance the demands of its large agricultural and urban sectors, especially in the arid southern portion of the state.

The state's widespread redistribution of water also invites the frequent scorn of environmentalists.

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said:

"We've been in crisis for quite some time because we're now 38 million people and not anymore 18 million people like we were in the late 60s. So it developed into a battle between environmentalists and farmers and between the south and the north and between rural and urban. And everyone has been fighting for the last four decades about water."

Many other functions, such as fire protection and water supply, especially in unincorporated areas, are handled by special districts."

GOVERNMENT

"The capital city of California is Sacramento.

California's judiciary system is the largest in the United States with a total of 1,600 judges (the federal system has only about 840).

California is divided into 58 counties.

The state of California sends 52 members to the House of Representatives,[354] the nation's largest congressional state delegation.

as of 2002, Californians were relatively under-represented in the military as a proportion to its population

California had the third highest percentage of Democratic votes behind the District of Columbia and Hawaii.

Since 1990, California has generally elected Democratic candidates to federal, state and local offices,

Several political movements have advocated for California independence. The California National Party and the California Freedom Coalition both advocate for California independence along the lines of progressivism and civic nationalism.

There are 62 Democrats and 18 Republicans in the Assembly; and 32 Democrats and eight Republicans in the Senate.

In general, Democratic strength is centered in the populous coastal regions of the Los Angeles metropolitan area and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Republican strength is still greatest in eastern parts of the state.

In October 2022, out of the 26,876,800 people eligible to vote, 21,940,274 people were registered to vote.[369] Of the people registered, the three largest registered groups were Democrats (10,283,258), Republicans (5,232,094), and No Party Preference (4,943,696)."

Now you can see why CA also wants to be a "separate" state.

Is she acting "progressive", because she is progressive?

Has success gone to her pretty head?

Is that why she defies the incoming Trump administration?

Former governor Schwarzenegger said the water "battle" has been on, for the past 40 years now.

As CA burns, we got to know more about her, thanks to Wikipedia.

As born again, we're merely here to state the facts of the state.

And to see what the WORD of GOD has to say.

Is CA being "humbled"?

Is she under "judgment"?

We do know she's proud.

Because she's beautiful, rich, and powerful.

Almost invincible.

She even wants to separate from the "union".

We also know Dems hold her tightly.

She's not about to be "released" to the Reps.

Thus, her government continues to defy Trump.

Who happens to be literally, GOD's "elect".

They want to "Trump-proof" CA.

Such an affront on the president!

All that GOD loves, Satan hates.

What does that make CA officials?

CA is vainrebellious, and idolatrous.

The very traits GOD abhors.

Success has gone to California's head.

No thanks to her government.

But she forgets something:

GOD OWNS everything:

Deuteronomy 10:14

King James Version

14 Behold,

the heaven

and the heaven of heavens

is the Lord's thy God,

the earth also,

with all that therein is.

The LEVIATHAN

What does the Bible say about the Leviathan?

Job 41

King James Version

41 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook?

or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?

2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose?

or bore his jaw through with a thorn?

3 Will he make many supplications unto thee?

will he speak soft words unto thee?

4 Will he make a covenant with thee?

wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird?

or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him?

shall they part him among the merchants?

7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons?

or his head with fish spears?

8 Lay thine hand upon him,

remember the battle, do no more.

9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain:

shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up:

who then is able to stand before me?

11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him?

whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

12 I will not conceal his parts,

nor his power,

nor his comely proportion.

13 Who can discover the face of his garment?

or who can come to him with his double bridle?

14 Who can open the doors of his face?

his teeth are terrible round about.

15 His scales are his pride,

shut up together as with a close seal.

16 One is so near to another,

that no air can come between them.

17 They are joined one to another,

they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

18 By his neesings a light doth shine,

and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps,

and sparks of fire leap out.

20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke,

as out of a seething pot or caldron.

21 His breath kindleth coals,

and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

22 In his neck remaineth strength,

and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together:

they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.

24 His heart is as firm as a stone;

yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.

25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid:

by reason of breakings they purify themselves.

26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold:

the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

27 He esteemeth iron as straw,

and brass as rotten wood.

28 The arrow cannot make him flee:

slingstones are turned with him into stubble.

29 Darts are counted as stubble:

he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.

30 Sharp stones are under him:

he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.

31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot:

he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

32 He maketh a path to shine after him;

one would think the deep to be hoary.

33 Upon earth there is not his like,

who is made without fear.

34 He beholdeth all high things:

he is a king over all the children of pride.

Psalm 74:13-14

King James Version

13 Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength:

thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.

14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces,

and gavest him to be meat

to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

Psalm 104:25-30

King James Version

25 So is this great and wide sea,

wherein are things creeping innumerable,

both small and great beasts.

26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan,

whom thou hast made to play therein.

27 These wait all upon thee;

that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

28 That thou givest them they gather:

thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled:

thou takest away their breath, they die,

and return to their dust.

30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created:

and thou renewest the face of the earth.

Isaiah 27:1

King James Version

27 In that day the Lord

with his sore and great and strong sword

shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent,

even leviathan that crooked serpent;

and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

he hath cast me out.

Ezekiel 29:1-6

in the twelfth day of the month,

the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face

against Pharaoh king of Egypt,

and prophesy against him,

and against all Egypt:

3 Speak, and say,

Thus saith the Lord God;

Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt,

the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers,

which hath said, My river is mine own,

and I have made it for myself.

4 But I will put hooks in thy jaws,

and I will cause the fish of thy rivers

to stick unto thy scales,

and I will bring thee up

out of the midst of thy rivers,

and all the fish of thy rivers

shall stick unto thy scales.

5 And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness,

thee and all the fish of thy rivers:

thou shalt fall upon the open fields;

thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered:

I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field

and to the fowls of the heaven.

6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know

that I am the Lord,

because they have been a staff of reed

to the house of Israel.

even to Jerusalem.

Malachi 1:1-5

Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us?

Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the Lord:

yet I loved Jacob,

3 And I hated Esau,

and laid his mountains and his heritage waste

for the dragons of the wilderness.

4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished,

but we will return and build the desolate places;

thus saith the Lord of hosts,

They shall build, but I will throw down;

and they shall call them,

and the dragon stood before the woman

which was ready to be delivered,

for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Revelation 12:7-9

King James Version

7 And there was war in heaven:

Michael and his angels fought against the dragon;

and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not;

neither was their place found any more in heaven.

and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 12:10-12

King James Version

Now is come salvation, and strength,

and the kingdom of our God,

and the power of his Christ:

for the accuser of our brethren is cast down,

which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb,

and by the word of their testimony;

and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens,

and ye that dwell in them.

Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea!

for the devil is come down unto you,

having great wrath, because he knoweth

that he hath but a short time.

Revelation 12:13-14

King James Version

13 And when the dragon saw

that he was cast unto the earth,

he persecuted the woman

which brought forth the man child.

14 And to the woman were given

two wings of a great eagle,

that she might fly into the wilderness,

into her place,

where she is nourished for a time,

and times, and half a time,

from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 12:15-17

King James Version

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water

as a flood after the woman,

that he might cause her

to be carried away of the flood.

16 And the earth helped the woman,

and the earth opened her mouth,

and swallowed up the flood

which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman,

and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,

which keep the commandments of God,

and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:1-3

King James Version

20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven,

having the key of the bottomless pit

and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon,

that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan,

and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit,

and shut him up, and set a seal upon him,

that he should deceive the nations no more,

till the thousand years should be fulfilled:

and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Revelation 20:7-10

King James Version

7 And when the thousand years are expired,

Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8 And shall go out to deceive the nations

which are in the four quarters of the earth,

Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle:

the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth,

and compassed the camp of the saints about,

and the beloved city:

and fire came down from God out of heaven,

 and devoured them.

10 And the devil that deceived them

was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,

where the beast and the false prophet are,

and shall be tormented day and night

for ever and ever.

On SERPENTS

What does the Bible say about serpents?

Genesis 3:1

King James Version

3 Now the serpent was more subtil

than any beast of the field

which the Lord God had made.

And he said unto the woman,

Yea, hath God said,

Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Genesis 3:14-15

King James Version

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent,

Because thou hast done this,

thou art cursed above all cattle,

and above every beast of the field;

upon thy belly shalt thou go,

and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman,

and between thy seed and her seed;

it shall bruise thy head,

and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Exodus 7:8-12

King James Version

8 And the Lord spake unto Moses

and unto Aaron, saying,

9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying,

Shew a miracle for you:

then thou shalt say unto Aaron,

Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh,

and it shall become a serpent.

10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh,

and they did so as the Lord had commanded:

and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh,

and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

11 Then Pharaoh also called

the wise men and the sorcerers:

now the magicians of Egypt,

they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

12 For they cast down every man his rod,

and they became serpents:

but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

Numbers 21:5-6

King James Version

5 And the people spake against God,

and against Moses,

Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt

to die in the wilderness?

for there is no bread, neither is there any water;

and our soul loatheth this light bread.

6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people,

and they bit the people;

and much people of Israel died.

Numbers 21:7-9

King James Version

7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said,

We have sinned, for we have spoken

against the Lord, and against thee;

pray unto the Lord,

that he take away the serpents from us.

And Moses prayed for the people.

8 And the Lord said unto Moses,

Make thee a fiery serpent,

and set it upon a pole:

and it shall come to pass,

that every one that is bitten,

when he looketh upon it, shall live.

9 And Moses made a serpent of brass,

and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass,

that if a serpent had bitten any man,

when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Deuteronomy 32:33

King James Version

33 Their wine is the poison of dragons,

and the cruel venom of asps.

Job 20:14-16

King James Version

14 Yet his meat in his bowels is turned,

it is the gall of asps within him.

15 He hath swallowed down riches,

and he shall vomit them up again:

God shall cast them out of his belly.

16 He shall suck the poison of asps:

the viper's tongue shall slay him.

Psalm 140:1-3

King James Version

140 Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man:

preserve me from the violent man;

2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart;

continually are they gathered together for war.

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent;

adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

Proverbs 23:31-32

King James Version

31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red,

when it giveth his colour in the cup,

when it moveth itself aright.

32 At the last it biteth like a serpent,

and stingeth like an adder.

Isaiah 11:8-10

King James Version

8 And the sucking child shall play

on the hole of the asp,

and the weaned child shall put his hand

on the cockatrice' den.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy

in all my holy mountain:

for the earth shall be full

of the knowledge of the Lord,

as the waters cover the sea.

10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse,

which shall stand for an ensign of the people;

to it shall the Gentiles seek:

and his rest shall be glorious.

Isaiah 14:29-32

King James Version

29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina,

because the rod of him that smote thee is broken:

for out of the serpent's root

shall come forth a cockatrice,

and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed,

and the needy shall lie down in safety:

and I will kill thy root with famine,

and he shall slay thy remnant.

31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city;

thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved:

for there shall come from the north a smoke,

and none shall be alone in his appointed times.

32 What shall one then answer

the messengers of the nation?

That the Lord hath founded Zion,

and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

Isaiah 27:1

King James Version

27 In that day the Lord

with his sore and great and strong sword

shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent,

even leviathan that crooked serpent;

and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

Isaiah 30:6-7

King James Version

6 The burden of the beasts of the south:

into the land of trouble and anguish,

from whence come the young and old lion,

the viper and fiery flying serpent,

they will carry their riches

upon the shoulders of young asses,

and their treasures upon the bunches of camels,

to a people that shall not profit them.

7 For the Egyptians shall help in vain,

and to no purpose:

therefore have I cried concerning this,

Their strength is to sit still.

Isaiah 59:1-5

King James Version

59 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened,

that it cannot save;

neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2 But your iniquities have separated

between you and your God,

and your sins have hid his face from you,

that he will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood,

and your fingers with iniquity;

your lips have spoken lies,

your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth:

they trust in vanity, and speak lies;

they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs,

and weave the spider's web:

he that eateth of their eggs dieth,

and that which is crushed

breaketh out into a viper.

Jeremiah 8:14-17

King James Version

14 Why do we sit still?

assemble yourselves,

and let us enter into the defenced cities,

and let us be silent there:

for the Lord our God hath put us to silence,

and given us water of gall to drink,

because we have sinned against the Lord.

15 We looked for peace, but no good came;

and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan:

the whole land trembled at the sound

of the neighing of his strong ones;

for they are come, and have devoured the land,

and all that is in it;

the city, and those that dwell therein.

17 For, behold,

I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you,

which will not be charmed,

and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.

Micah 7:16-17

King James Version

16 The nations shall see

and be confounded at all their might:

they shall lay their hand upon their mouth,

their ears shall be deaf.

17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent,

they shall move out of their holes

like worms of the earth:

they shall be afraid of the Lord our God,

and shall fear because of thee.

Matthew 3:7-8

King James Version

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees

and Sadducees come to his baptism,

he said unto them,

O generation of vipers,

who hath warned you to flee

from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits

meet for repentance:

Matthew 10:16

King James Version

16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep

in the midst of wolves:

be ye therefore wise as serpents,

and harmless as doves.

Matthew 12:34-37

King James Version

34 O generation of vipers,

how can ye, being evil, speak good things?

for out of the abundance of the heart

the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart

bringeth forth good things:

and an evil man out of the evil treasure

bringeth forth evil things.

36 But I say unto you,

That every idle word that men shall speak,

they shall give account thereof

in the day of judgment.

37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified,

and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 23:29-33

King James Version

29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

because ye build the tombs of the prophets,

and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers,

we would not have been partakers with them

in the blood of the prophets.

31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves,

that ye are the children of them

which killed the prophets.

32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers,

how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Mark 16:17-18

King James Version

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe;

In my name shall they cast out devils;

they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents;

and if they drink any deadly thing,

it shall not hurt them;

they shall lay hands on the sick,

and they shall recover.

Luke 10:19-20

King James Version

19 Behold, I give unto you power

to tread on serpents and scorpions,

and over all the power of the enemy:

and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not,

that the spirits are subject unto you;

but rather rejoice, because your names

are written in heaven.

John 3:14-15

King James Version

14 And as Moses lifted up

the serpent in the wilderness,

even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him

should not perish, but have eternal life.

Acts 28:3-6

King James Version

3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks,

and laid them on the fire,

there came a viper out of the heat,

and fastened on his hand.

4 And when the barbarians saw

the venomous beast hang on his hand,

they said among themselves,

No doubt this man is a murderer,

whom, though he hath escaped the sea,

yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire,

and felt no harm.

6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen,

or fallen down dead suddenly:

but after they had looked a great while,

and saw no harm come to him,

they changed their minds,

and said that he was a god.

Romans 3:10-14

King James Version

10 As it is written,

There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There is none that understandeth,

there is none that seeketh after God.

12 They are all gone out of the way,

they are together become unprofitable;

there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

13 Their throat is an open sepulchre;

with their tongues they have used deceit;

the poison of asps is under their lips:

14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

Revelation 12:9

King James Version

9 And the great dragon was cast out,

that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan,

which deceiveth the whole world:

he was cast out into the earth,

and his angels were cast out with him.
