Why Are We to Focus on JESUS Alone?

 3 If ye then
be risen with Christ,
seek those things
which are above,
where Christ sitteth
on the right hand
of God.
2 Set your affection
on things above,
not on things
on the earth.
Colossians 3:1-2 (King James Version)

Why is it important we focus on Jesus alone, and not on the things of the world?

In progression (one verse leading to the other), this is what Scripture has to say:

14 I have seen all the works

that are done under the sun;

and, behold,

all is vanity

and vexation of spirit.

Ecclesiastes 1:14 (King James Version)

8 Be sober,

be vigilant;

because your adversary

the devil,

as a roaring lion,

walketh about,

seeking whom

he may devour:

1 Peter 5:8 King James Version (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not

against flesh and blood,

but against principalities,

against powers,

against the rulers

of the darkness

of this world,

against spiritual wickedness

in high places.

Ephesians 6:12 (King James Version)

4 In whom

the god of this world

hath blinded

the minds of them

which believe not,

lest the light

of the glorious gospel

of Christ,

who is the image

of God,

should shine

unto them.

2 Corinthians 4:4 King James Version (KJV)

2 And be not conformed

to this world:

but be ye transformed

by the renewing

of your mind,

that ye may prove

what is that good,

and acceptable,

and perfect,

will of God.

Romans 12:2 (King James Version)

19 And we know

that we are of God,

and the whole world

lieth in wickedness.

1 John 5:19 (King James Version)

7 Submit yourselves therefore

to God.

Resist the devil,

and he will flee

from you.

James 4:7 (King James Version)

18 While we look not

at the things which are seen,

but at the things

which are not seen:

for the things which are seen

are temporal;

but the things which are not seen

are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (King James Version)

13 Jesus answered

and said unto her,

Whosoever drinketh

of this water

shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever

drinketh of the water

that I shall give him

shall never thirst;

but the water

that I shall give him

shall be in him

a well of water

springing up

into everlasting life.

John 4:13-14 (King James Version)

35 And Jesus said unto them,

I am the bread of life:

he that cometh to me

shall never hunger;

and he that believeth on me

shall never thirst.

John 6:35 (King James Version)

6 Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh

unto the Father,

but by me.

John 14:6 (King James Version)

36 He that believeth

on the Son

hath everlasting life:

and he that believeth not the Son

shall not see life;

but the wrath of God

abideth on him.

John 3:36 (King James Version)

28 Then said they unto him,

What shall we do,

that we might work

the works of God?

29 Jesus answered

and said unto them,

This is the work of God,

that ye believe on him

whom he hath sent.

John 6:28-29 (King James Version)

What Makes God Angry?

What elicits God's wrath and disgust? According to Scripture, the things mentioned below are abominations to God. If we love God with ...
